“I’m single yet I am happy, because Jesus is in me!” 79-year-old Feliza Gaffud said. She devoted most of her life in providing for her two siblings that she did not think much of building a family of her own. Everything that she had, she shared with them.
“Sometimes I imagine myself having my own family just like my two sisters. Yet I am grateful to God for using my life to be a vessel of help for them.” Nanay Feliza worked as a househelp for years until she was diagnosed of having Chronic Venous Insufficiency, a condition causing improper blood flow, which results in various health problems. She couldn’t stand or walk for long periods because of joint pain. She also has hypertension. The tables have turned for Nanay Feliza and her siblings. Now, it is her sister who supports her daily needs, including her medication expenses. Her nephew is also available to assist her if she needs to go somewhere because she cannot go out on her own. The once independent Nanay Feliza has become dependent because of her sickness.
Nanay Feliza cried as she received the gift of love, made possible through OB’s partnership with the Free Wheelchair Mission (FWM) and the Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA). She recognized that it is God’s hand working in her life. She knows that the Lord uses people to tell her not to be lonely. Life is meant to be shared. Everyday is an opportunity to be a blessing to many. And as we bless others, God’s blessing will overtake us in return. Nanay Feliza knows this well. |

“I love them so much,” Nanay Feliza said. She lives with one of her sisters in Project 4, Quezon City.
But with the free wheelchair from Operation Blessing, she can again go anywhere!
